HRG is one of the first organizations engaged in robotics research and also is the birthplace of China’s first spot welding robot, arc welding robot, wall climbing robot, space robot and lunar rover. HIT is a representative model in the development of robot industry-university-research cooperation in China, with the national key laboratory of “Robot Technology and System” and Harbin Boshi Automation Co., Ltd., a leading listed enterprise in robot industry.

  • “863 PROGRAM”
    In addition to the construction of the national key laboratory that got the Green Light, HRG also established the institutions including the Open Laboratory of Intelligent Robot Institution among the “State High-tech Development Program” (863 Program), Base for Industrialization of Achievements of 863 Program, Heilongjiang Key Robotics Technology Laboratory, Heilongjiang Robotics Technology Engineering Center, Sino-German Joint Laboratory for Space Robot Technology. It also participated in the formulation of the State High-tech Development Program (863 Program).
    HRG took part in the national planning effort to robot development from the “Ninth Five-Year Plan” to “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan”. Among the five experts in the research team of intelligent robot in the “863 Program” for the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, three were graduated from HIT.
  • “2011 PLAN”
    To declare the collaborative innovation of the “Institutions of Higher Learning Innovation Ability Enhancement Plan” (2011 Plan) in 2013, HRG as the leading organization invited research institutions including Shenyang Institute of Automation Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beihang University,and Beijing Institute of Technology, as well as enterprises such as Siasun, Harbin Boshi and Anhui Effort to make an associated declaration, demonstrating its charisma in the sector.
HIT was approved as China’s first doctor station of electromechanical control and automation (formerly mechanical and electronic engineering) in 1990. In the last ten years, HIT has cultivated more than 400 doctors and over 1,000 masters. Among the doctors graduated from the university, there are two Cheung Kong scholars, three distinguished young scholars, one among the Thousand Talents Program, and nine experts in the national 863 Program. In addition, many of the graduates have now become the leader in China’s robotics research and industry.
HIT owns more than 300 core technologies and utility patents in the field of robotics, with over 120 researchers engaged in robotics technology, including one academician, five Cheung Kong Scholars, four among the Thousand Talents Program sponsored by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, three winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, one among the first Young and Middle-aged Science & Technology Leading Talents sponsored by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, two among the first Outstanding Young Scholars sponsored by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, and three awarded the China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists. The laboratory has established a strong, vigorous high-caliber research team academically led by academicians, Cheung Kong scholars, winners of the Thousand Talents Program, outstanding young scholars and senior professors and comprising middle-aged and young teachers as the backbone, which is capable to strive and struggle and maintain solidarity in cooperation at the forefront of the robotics research.

  • Based on the requirements of various cabin and outboard operations of future space station, HIT has developed the world’s most flexible and strongly operational humanoid dexterous hand incorporating a variety of perceptional function, high intelligence and integration, which reaches the leading level in the field of driver-built-in dexterous hands.
  • Space manipulator is among the three key technologies of China’s space station system, becoming our country’s important base for space robotics research and engineering implementation.   • HIT has developed not only basic components including special motor for extreme environment that broke the overseas blockade, filled the domestic gaps in this field and meet the requirements of space and deep-sea explorations, but also a series of brushless DC motor, brake, deepwater brushless DC motor for space environment.
